Glad to be around. I like my 'bot, but I'm still waiting for Kraft/Gevalia to wake up from their self induced coma and give its customers what we're asking for.

Yes one of the differences is the T-45 aka Suprema does have the filter. Otherwise, not a whole lot different. I'm thinking if someone wanted to add the filter to their TAS1000UC, I wonder if they could buy the tank part for the filter from Bosch site; it just might fit? Some people say it doesn't matter about having a filter when using filtered water. However, I use water filtered from my side by side refrigerator, and when its time to change the filter I can detect a change in the quality of my brews.

The cover on the user manual that came with my new 'bot states that the manual is for the:

TAS 451xUC
TAS1000UC

I'm not sure that there is a difference.

I am still trying to find the difference between the T45 and my TAS1000UC. Is it just the color? Mine is all black, while the model on the T45 shows red in amazon, but they look identical everywhere else. Here in this page I believe the TAS1000UC is the "TASSIMO Home Brewing System". Does the T45 have a filter?

As far as the brew quality, from the T20 and the TAS1000UC I don't notice any difference.

I have a T45. At the time that I purchased my 'bot, I had three choices. The T20, T45, and T65. Here's my view on the three:

T20: this is a scaled down version of the T45/65. I did some research and found that reviewers felt that he build of the T20 was not up to the same quality as the T45/t65.

T65: this is fairly similar to the T45. I was only able to see two main differences between the two. 1) there are led lamps to illuminate the coffee as it exits the 'bot. The color of the led light is blue. I still wonder why would anyone want a blue glow where the coffee exits the 'bot? 2) there is a liquid crystal (lc) display that complements the lamps that are around the button, and I don't think that it presents any more info that I would need. The display can be programmed for one of various languages. I speak English, so I didn't see the need for being able to change the language.

So why bother with the T65 which really is a T45 with a few more bells and whistles that don't do anything of great significance; and the T65 costs way more than the T45. If the T65 was a significantly better brewer, then I would have gladly paid for the difference. ;)

OK folks, I went back to my local BBB and they gave me an even swap. They gave me the exchange without having to get a refund and then a purchase. They did scan my register receipt though.

So I now have a brand new 'bot. I cleaned as recommended, and ran a Carte Noire through it. The coffee came out ok, but just one little thing. My old 'bot would jettison a blast of air at the end of the brewing cycle. This would really bring out the crema, and the foamy head on the caps. This time I'm getting less air resulting in less of a crema.

Oh well, life's not perfect.

But I did learn one thing. Buy kitchen electrics from BBB, they were real easy to work with regarding this exchange.
