How long have you had this brewer and when did this start happening? Is it just with certain discs or with all discs? I hope I'm not jinxing myself like I did with the "leaking milk discs" as I've not had this problem with water left in the coffee discs and I always wait until it's all finished. Maybe the problem is with the brewer. I don't know where you purchased it but you might want to exchange the brewer and have the store send the old one back as defective. I would imagine your cups are getting smaller, too?

Which brings to mind a question to anyone, how does one know if your piercing unit needs replaced? Should it ever need to be replaced at any point? Is it if you can't pierce the disc at all? Does it actually get dull or does it break at some point?

This is so true - there really is a reason the user guide says to wait until the cycle is complete. The pressure needs to dissipate and water or milk needs to have a chance to run through to the end. Also the espressos are brewed at increased pressure - it would make me a little nervous to pull these discs out early.

All that being said, maybe this is not the problem the user is having after all, but worth a look.

I agree Wolfsatz, I drink almost all espresso and if I decide to add a milk disc, I tend to get impatient and pull out the coffee disc before it's completely rid of the water and steam.

Also it's actually better to see just the residue of water and steam and not residue of coffee, because that means your piercing unit is working well.

I've seen this happen when you lift the cover too soon or stoping the brew cycle and not letting the final stage complete.

It seems that the last few seconds of the stage is to get rid of the water left in the T-Disc. If I don't rush it, there is no water left.
