Thank you all for the responses. I wanted to make sure I wasn't running a defective machine, and it sounds like it's totally normal. It's not deafening, and I didn't expect it to be so, but the mentions of "silent brewing" had me really wondering. Thanks again everyone, time to go brew myself a cup of "mostly quiet" coffee.

My 'bot makes the same sounds. But I have an added whistling sound when my 'bot is making the milk portion of the caps.

This sounds very much like mine. I noted it was also listed as "quiet" but it certainly isn't. I think it's tolerable, though.

I guess silent is a relative thing. The machine does make noise, its not stealthy. However I would not consider it noisy. It makes several different noises during the brewing, I think what you describe sounds like what I hear every day when I brew mine. However unless I'm in the kitchen with it, I am not able to hear it. Relative to an espresso machine, say at starbucks, the machine is quiet.

Good morning,
I just purchased a T65 and am THRILLED with the coffee. However, I keep reading the T65 is "silent"...when mine brews, I get the initial sound of the pump drawing in water, which is far from silent, kind of like a ticking, and then when the coffee is actually brewing, I get a pretty consistent chugging/buzzing that is not quiet either.
My question: are these normal sounds, and in fact compared to a previous model the T65 is silent, or is there possibly something wrong with my new machine? Thanks in advance for all responses!!
