Oh, but you are also suppose to pop out the piercing unit and clean it too. There is a thread somewhere on this board about this. Its pretty easy, lift the little ledge you place your T-disc on and bring towards you it will come right out, Now push the spigot part of the piercing unit upward and pop the whole unit out for cleaning. Real easy ; )

I also used to get the leakage at the bottom of my Braun Tassimo machine, I think that's what you are referring to. I was told to clean the spout where the water drains into the cup stand with some white vinegar, as I guess the little spout gets clogged up with lime deposits and I guess this somehow causes the problem. It seems to work for a while, and then eventually comes back a month or two later.
Now, the new Bosch Tassimo machine doesn't have water draining into the cup stand anymore, so I guess that eliminates the problem. I also noticed that the piercing unit in the Bosch unit is not removable like the previous unit, so, now, after making a latte or cappucino, I have to run the cleaning disc through instead of taking out the piercing unit and rinsing that under the sink spout.

*Note to explain how I've tried Keurig's coffee (I work at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, we had a machine returned, nothing wrong w/ it, but we couldn't sell it due to it being used... so rather than throw it in the trash like Keurig told us to do on the return policy, we kept it in our break room, and whenever the K cups get too old to keep on the floor we put them in the break room. This way we can let our bridals try the coffee if they want, and let them have coffee to walk around with while registering, and we can learn how the drinks taste for ourselves) --------------------------------------------------------------
I only read the first 2 posts so far... but here's my 2 cents or whatever (handful of change?) on it:
If you like the capp, lattes, and espresso from your Tassimo I wouldn't suggest changing to Keurig obviously.
But in my opinion... of the coffees I've tried *(see note above) the Tassimo I own has made the best coffee.
Coffee: Tassimo may not have all the flavored coffees, but I still enjoy the cappuccino's and lattes some. Also I have tried about 12 different coffees from Keurig by now and I still say Starbucks' African Kitamu is my favorite. I also like House Blend better than any of the Keurig Coffees I've tried. In fact, the ONLY coffees from Keurig I've been able to fully drink and enjoy without sugar and cream are Van Houtte's French Vanilla and Hazelnut. Whereas I can drink my Starbucks' brands black. I also enjoy Seattle's Best Henry's Blend, I can drink that black but need a little something in their breakfast blend.
Tea: I don't buy tea for these machines as I believe in the tea philosophy that the tea should be soaked for a while rather than having water forced through it. I tried the Chai Latte from Keurig and it seemed ok for the first few sips. It seemed to me like the spice in the taste would work better once the coffee was less hot. However once it cooled down a little it started to taste more and more unpleasant to me. So while it was decent while hot, once it starts losing heat it just starts tasting nasty to me.
Hot Chocolate: I tried the Green Mountain Hot Cocoa and.... it was ok. Not all that amazing. Drinkable but I wouldn't ever buy it. The regular chocolate syrup coffee from Tassimo is much better. And the Milka is also better. However the Cafe Express (or whatever it is... white, very plain looking boxes, they make chai latte, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and hot cocoa) Dark Chocolate is VERY good for the Keurig. Also more expensive than regular K Cups.
Specialty drinks: Well the Tassimo is the only one that does Lattes, espressos, and cappuccinos so it kind of wins here. You could get an extra bold coffee with the Keurig and use a milk frother and combine them with the coffee... but that's not the effort you should have to go into with a single serve.
----- So the conclusion... using my thoughts...
Sure you can get TONS of flavored coffee with Keurig... and it's really cool and convenient... But I'd rather make my coffee with my regular coffee maker, my moka pot, or my french press and save a lot more money.
Unless it's for an office I think the Keurig is almost a waste, at least for me. So far I only like 2 brands (which I rate below my favorite T Cup coffee) of coffee and only one hot chocolate.
I'd stick with the Tassimo... unless, like I said above... it's just something for an office. Also if you like to add a lot of sugar and cream to your coffee all the K Cups become good/decent... so if you don't drink coffee black the Keurig is still good. I just prefer my Tassimo.

I've read on other message boards from keurig owners that the coffee is weak. In fact seems like most of them use the "my k cup" more often so they can use their own coffee. It defeats the purpose of these machines and if you can't find a comparable coffee out of 200 flavors then something is wrong. I'd like to see tassimo offer more flavors but really, after the novelty wears off, im sure most people will stick to just a couple of flavors anyway.

When I started reading feedback on the Keurig I saw that the coffee was watery/weak. If that's true I wouldn't like it at all. I really love the Tassimo Starbucks and Seattle's Best coffees. I'm in the A/D plan and am happy with it. I buy extras at BB&B if I need to. Our Target still has a small selection I think. I would like to see more decaf selections. That's where Tassimo is lacking in my opinion.

agreed! and at the same time, we dont need 15 varieties for morning blend either! however some more flavored coffees and a choloclate mocha blend, a pepermint blend, a caramel macchiato, well.. the entire starbucks lineup would be great
One thing is very evident, there is no comparison on the quality of the coffee. We have a Keurig in the office and I had a cup this morning, after having a cup at home this morning, and wow! what a difference!!

Yes, welcome! I know that a lot of Tassimo owners would like more choices as compared to Keurig, and in time, that may happen, but for now, I view it more as quality over quantity, you know?

crichards, I can speak to the Keurig coffee, as i had a Keurig at home for 2 years and one in our office for 3+ years. Bottom line is there coffee is a bit watery. If you are someone who like a super light drink, you would have liked Keurig. The two downsides, as I am sure you know, are that very few places carry the Tassimo and their coffee, and secondly, there are a paltry 30+ selections for Tassimo as opposed to 150+ for Keurig.
I am just hoping that a day doesnt come where the only place we can buy coffee is on-line!

Egarneau, thanks so much for replying. I was surprised that I didn't get any feedback. The spillback always bothered me with the Braun, and the leaking problem started recently. I ended up buying the newest Bosch Tassimo last night at BB&B. I used a 20% coupon and am getting the $50 rebate. I hated giving up on Tassimo as I do love really love the coffee selection.
I am thrilled with the new model! I had three cups of coffee this morning--so far so good. They have completely taken care of the spillback. Like you I don't think it's that much quieter, but it's a little quieter.

I have had my Braun for over two years and have never had a problem with it. If yours leaked from the start or shortly after you started using it, I'm sure you have a defective product. I have a Bosch as well and after a year it too has given me no problems. People say the Bosch is quieter, but I don't find it to be much quieter.
I have never tried the Keurig coffee, but I like the flavor of the coffee that the Tassimo produces. Keurig has more variety presently, and seems to be available in more venues. Some on this forum say that the flavor is not as good as the Tassimo, but I cannot confirm that.

Newer Model Tassimo or Keurig?

I've had a Braun Tassimo for three years. Although I've descaled it, the leakiness is getting worse and I'm getting tired of cleaning my counter each time I use it. I really love the Starbucks and Seattle's Best coffees.
I'm trying to decide whether to try the Bosch Tassimo or go with the Keurig this time. I realize the new Tassimo is quieter, but has the leaking problem been resolved? I know many of you have tried both machines. Is the Keurig coffee as good? I've really enjoyed my Tassimo the past three years, but the countertop mess has always bothered me--even more than the noise. I'm not familiar with the brands that Keurig has so deciding based on that without input from others doesn't help me.
I know this is a Tassimo forum but didn't know where else to look for answers! I've read favorable reviews for both brands.
Thank you!
