I'll add my two cents, Casey.

Like Wolfsatz, I will miss the SBux when I finally run out, but I have several other brands/brews that I like and I will do fine with them as long as Tassimo continues to be in business (unfortunately I don't like the ever-present Gevalias and MH's).

I have not been impressed with the Keurig system's design and resulting brews. Just think about how ingenious the Tassimo/Bosch bar-code design is - controlling temp, pressure (it HAS pressure), saturation of grounds, amount of water, etc. For all the hundreds of selections Keurig has, it still comes down to "one pod fits all" which does not give you the best brewed cup (again, my opinion).

I know money doesn't grow on trees, but using a BBB 20% coupon and getting the lowest priced Tassimo brewer might be a way to go. For me, it would be either that, or waiting until the "next generation" of single-serves come out, who know when. From my experience, I would not get a current generation Keurig.

BBB is wonderful to work with, no matter what you buy there ; ) I've had to return other kinds of small appliances or houseware that were defective in some way and they would go so far as opening new boxes to make sure the next item I received was good. What I really respected if other items were bad with the same defect, they put the boxes aside to return to the company, instead of back on the shelf, like I've seen other stores do.

You may want to read what I just posted regarding the three Tassimo offerings. Just remember a few things.

1) I just had a positive experience at Bed Bath and Beyond regarding an exhange. It was no muss, no fuss. Regardless which brewer you purchase, buy it from them.

2) If you do decide to purchase a 'bot from BBB, use one of your 20% discount coupons. I believe that there is round two of the $50 rebates going on right now. I did this, and combined my T45 'bot ended up costing me about $85 with that rebate. Nice deal! ;)

3) I only purchase my t-discs from either BBB, or Amazon. If you want to purchase Gevalia or Milka hot choco, by all means BBB is your best choice. Just remember to bring your 20% coupons with you. I purchase my Carte Noire and Kenco coffees from amazon. You can't get them at BBB.

What ever you choose, good luck.

Casey,
If you do decide for the Non Tassimo options, I hope that you come back and share your experiences with any of those. Good Luck!

I definitely appreciate everyone's thoughts and opinions. I definitely won't let anyone's opinion of "taste" affect my choices, since everyone has differing opinions there, and I'm definitely no coffee aficionado. I do agree that I don't need 1001 choices, since I'll probably find a few and stick with those.

I'll continue to evaluate, but right now my list is down to the Tassimo T65, Cuisinart SS700, and Nescafe Dolce Gusto Creativa.

Again, I appreciate everyone's replies!

I've been drinking the Mastro Lorenzo Crema and the Carte Noire Kenya... while I still have a good stash of SBux ... would I miss my beloved Verona and Kitamu? yes but not to go to Keurig or Dolce Gusto. SBux is a little over rated in this area. Compared to other good coffees, SBux is just another one of the bunch.

Carte Noire's and Mastro Lorezo as well as MH French Roast deliver a good cup of joe. Not all T-Discs are all great, but once you find the ones you like you don't need 1001 flavors. They would be much better than any of the Keurigs. I've also tried quite a few Keurig and they compared to Navy Dark Water Coffee... Yuck!

BTW; I have 2 BBs, and they both deliver great coffee, without exploding T-Discs. Everyone has lemon's.

I say do your research on the net. Read all the ratings and reviews you can find. Look at the durability of the brewers and what is available. Post questions on the boards supporting certain brewers; ask a lot of questions. Also, remember there are going to be those who will be passionately biased towards a brewer. Don't be persuaded on that alone. Taste is relative, yours and that person's may not match. Don't jump until you know the brewer is what you can live with. Taste different coffees from different brewers at demonstrations if available in your area. Also, look at the progressiveness of the company. Do they support their brewers and are they catering not only to europe but also to the states. How readily available are the drink choices? As far as Keurigs go, I wouldn't jump on that one just yet. Although I have to say I believe the Cuisinart model brews a better tasting coffee than the regular K-models; and I'm hearing it brews both hot and cold drinks. The thing that is bothering me more and more with Tassimo, is not the brewer at all. The brewer is great. However, over the past few years the company itself has shown very little concern for its customers in the U.S. I don't feel like the company values or respects the T customers; I in turn am finding it harder and harder to support the company as a whole for that reason.

If your goal is to avoid going to SB for a mocha - neither machine is going to satisfy that imo. The Tassimo makes a much better cup of coffee - but only with the SB discs which are going away.

So personally, I'd recommend getting a Keurig.

Well, Casey, here's another opinion. I've brewed hundreds of coffees, teas, cappuccinos, lattes, and hot chocolates. None of them have "exploded" and I've never had grounds in my drinks. I've also ordered from tassimo.com and gevalia.com. I've never had a problem and I've always gotten what I ordered and it has always been on time. My office has a Keurig and even the best of brands produce semi good coffee at best. Sure, there's a wealth to choose from, but none of them are all that great. I can only predict that Starbucks in the Keurig will be equally mediocre. I know everyone is up in arms about the departure of Starbucks, but personally, when I want Starbucks I go to Starbucks. That's not to say that 100% of the products for the Tassimo are stellar. I cannot drink Gevalia's "signature blend", for example, but I've been able to arrange a great line up of coffees (etc.) that I enjoy on a regular basis. All of them are better than anything I have tried on the Keurig. I think you will find that you will do the same thing with the Keurig. . .find a few go-to brands and stick with them even though you have a hundred to choose from. Each system has it's pros and cons, Casey. Weigh the options and what's important to you. For me, I just can't do without lattes and the Keurig doesn't do that, so my decision is easy. When Keurig comes out with a way to make them, I'll re-evaluate. Some people feel the loss of Starbucks will result in the demise of the system altogether and they're betting on Tassimo becoming extinct, beaten in the end, by a bitter and vengeful partner-turned-rival. I tend to believe we'll see the product survive, though in what condition remains to be seen. In your own words, you're looking for a good cup of coffee with the occasional option to make a mocha or similar drink (I'm assuming lattes, cappucinos, etc). For now, the Tassimo is your only option.

Don't buy!!!

There have been several reports of Tassimo discs that "explode" pouring grounds everywhere. Now every disc that I've tried sincle last night explodes and I have grounds everywhere. I just did a count and found that I have 11 boxes of discs (about $100) that I purchased from various sources and I can't use them.

I'm going to try to contact Customer Service, but it seems that many who have tried to work with them have nothing but grief from CS.

Additionally, where are you going to buy your discs? Unless you are willing to buy Maxwell House or Gevalia from your local Bed Bath and Beyond, the only place to buy is from Amazon.

I'm thinking of putting my discs up for sale at eBay and then I'll buy Keurig mylelf.

My advice is NOT to buy the Tassimo.

I feel bad for creating another topic to discuss the Keurig vs. Tassimo debate, but I still haven't really seen anything recent that helps with the decision. I'm one of those researcher types that likes to do tons of studying up on a product before making a decision, and who knew that a coffee maker could be so difficult.

I was just about set to buy a Tassimo Suprema Home Brewing System after seeing all of the wonderful reviews about the system itself and how it tends to create a much better cup of coffee. I also like the latte and cappuccino options. However, after scouring this forum, it obviously seems that there are problems brewing (pun intended :-p) with the Starbucks issue, as well as the customer service and overall problem with the tassimodirect delivery. I'm fine not joining the direct delivery, getting the coffee elsewhere. However, it seems I've seen rumors that Keurig could be on the move over to the latte/cappuccino side and, let's face it, their choices far outnumber Tassimo's.

I just want a good cup of coffee with the occasional option to make a mocha or similar drink. My wife doesn't drink coffee, but would enjoy the hot chocolates and teas. Do I resign myself to the Keurig and continue my weekly trek to a local Sbux for my mocha, or do I purchase the Tassimo and hope Kuerig doesn't come out with something better soon? ?<img border=">
