Bekka,

Very interesting! Thanks for sharing what you've been seeing/hearing from the stores in your areas.

In the beginning of December I went to every local store and then some listed on the store indicator of this website trying to purchase a variety of T-discs and my search was unquenched. I came across stores that much to my dismay were phasing out Tassimo machines and of course the T-discs or had little left and no plans to stock up on more. The only store I could find with decent T-discs was BBB, but the choices were slim and dominated by MH & G. However, more recently at BBB, the choices are improving tremendously; offering the SB Primos, Milka, Crema, and G's Carmel Latte. I have to say I believe the recent media attention, internet reviews, people actually sampling Tassimo coffees vs Keurig coffees, may be paying off for Tassimo now. I have pleasantly noticed the last few weeks, Tassimo ads pop up frequently while I'm on the internet, more ads in different magazines, and voila, TV commercials. You go Tassimo, you are rocking now. A "big" interest in Tassimos was definitely evidenced in my after-christmas shopping experience yesterday in those same stores left with a surplus of Keurigs. People were snagging up the Tassimos. My own aim yesterday was to purchase a T-45 Suprema for my office, and keep my T-65 on my home countertop where it belongs. In the beginning of December I had gone to Sears and sampled a cup of coffee from a Keurig demonstrator. The K machine was brewed from one of their newest K models, but the resultant cup of coffee was the same bittery watery brew I have grown to associate with K. Those demonstrations may actually work for Tassimo, especially when people taste the differences in the qualities of coffees brewed. Any way, in early December Sears had maybe one or two dust covered Bosch Tassimos left on their shelves and very little in the way of T-discs available. Of course the store had walls of Keurigs and K-cups. I asked a clerk back then about more T-discs and was advised people just weren't buying the products, more and more want Keurigs & it was quite obvious back then Keurigs were crowding out Tassimo products. Keurigs were promoted heavily there. Well yesterday, I went back through Sears and bought a snazzy red T-45 Suprema. I saw the same clerk and was advised they are totally baffled with the rekindled interest in Tassimo. It appears that Sears had gotten a large shipment of Red and Silver Suprema Tassimos in before Christmas. Yet they only had 3 or 4 Red Suprema Tassimos left from that shipment that usually sell for more than the Silver Supremas at Sears. Why the price difference I do not know. Most stores sell the red and the silver models for the same price. But at Sears its $189 for the red as opposed to $169 for the silver, and the few reds they had left were marked down to $169 yesterday. Of course there is the $50 rebate to consider too LOL. Surprised???!!! I bet they are and probably more so in consideration of the walls of keurigs still left standing stacked up 4 to 5 rows deep and at least 4 Keurigs high. Same with Macy's that crowded out the Tassimos, and other stores as well. I'm so hoping Boscov's gets the picture soon, they actually told me they were no longer carrying Tassimo products at all. But if interest continues to mount, it would be wonderful to see that store carry T-discs again; Boscov's is very close to my home and it would be so convenient to buy T-discs there. What really surprised me the most was when I walked into JC Penny's. In early December I saw no sign of any Tassimo offerings in Pennys, other than their catalogue. Yesterday, when I walked in, I saw a shelf with T-discs & a Silver Suprema coffee maker display. Very few T-discs were left, but the sign listed a very nice assortment of T-discs that had apparently graced their shelves for the Christmas holidays. Even more variety than I have seen at BBB. I spoke with the clerk in Penny's and was advised they had gotten in a very large shipment of Tassimo machines a few weeks before Christmas and every one of those machines sold out before Christmas all exept the display model. The clerk also said the T-discs sold like hotcakes; as soon as they set the packages out the packages were gone. Overall I was told Tassimo sales in Penny's outsold Keurig products. The manager of that department is very pleased with the sales and I was advised "not to worry", the store was going to make sure more T-discs would be ordered & stocked to accomodate all their customers who bought a Tassimo coffee maker there. You could tell by their shelving arrangements, and this is rare these days, their shelving display really showcased the Tassimo coffee maker and what was left of the T-discs were placed on shelving more at eye level. Nothing was crowded, not like it is in BBB, and the Keurigs were placed in a different area not near as nice of a display as the Tassimo, and not in a competitive stance right next to the Tassimo display. Penny's Tassimo coffee maker display was beautiful; placed at chest level so every one could see it when they walked into the store. Surrounded by exquisite coffee mugs, set on lace, & mirrored cystal squares; it all spoke classy elegance. I'm not surprised they sold out!!!!
In sum, yesterday was a very different experience than what I evidenced in early December. Things are not always as they appear to be, thankfully enough. What was evident yesterday, were stores still overstocked with keurigs; those K walls standing high. And what Tassimos were left in stores were being snagged up even yesterday. I also noticed quite a few Ks that were returned, tagged, & stacked by the cashiers in a few stores.
