I know I told my pig stories in the cafe thread, but with spring here this seemed a fitting place.
Recapping, Seven is the boar next door that doesn't like anyone, but adores me. He's now a nice ton, massive puppy with equally massive tusks.
So, being spring, it's time to breed our sows. This means getting them over there, or Seven over here. Sounds easy, yes? Hahaha.
The guys spent the weekend building a big fence between our pig pen and the one next door. Our girls got part way out, squealed, and ran back home. Seven stood at his fence waiting for them. No one would budge. (They wandered everywhere last fall though!)
Guys have no patience waiting for these things to work out. They tried pushing (picture that one, go ahead) bribing, scaring, anything to get one or the other to move.
Nothing.
Finally, my loving husband pipes up. "Wait, I'll go home and get the boar bait."
Yes. He meant me. I am boar bait.
It was one of those moments you stare, mouth open, wondering if he values his life.
"It's a good thing I have a sense of humor."
"Oh. Uh. It's a compliment, you can tame the beast."
"What in the word 'bait' sounds like a compliment?"
"...Well at least I didn't tell you to get it as a car plate."
The man does make me laugh.

My kids fled the house, happy to go to school. Why? It was 50 degrees and sunny, I scrubbed woodwork and mopped everything.
Between the pinesol and Murphy's oil soap everyone took shoes off when they came in, without being asked. Now if I can just get the dogs to wipe their feet......

lol I felt the same way, but I've been sick, so I've been limiting myself to sitting on the porch when the sun is hitting it just right so I can get that extra warmth. It's been so nice.

We hit 50-60 all weekend, it's been *wonderful*. I let the chickens out of their run, giving them free range of the yard, and they were hysterical to watch. I don't know which they liked better, rolling in the dirt or scratching for bugs.

LOL. Faint?
Seriously, I know the feeling. One of our peach trees started to bud, then we had snow and sleet yesterday. What a winter!

I'm with you caryrae! We got another five inches the other day that covered all our brown grass. Thankfully yesterday hit 40 and it all melted again. Back to a lot of brown grass, which is better than vast white.
March came in like a lion, it'll go out like a lamb. Come on spring!
ly, congratulations! Here's hoping you get to go new clothes shopping. =)

Amen to that! We have all this blooming and my car was GREEN this morning! I have decided that Spring HAS Sprung for me, I changed my garden flags to flowers, put out the Easter rabbits, and refuse to wear Winter clothes again! I am changing clothes seasons tomorrow! Will need several cups of coffee to get it done...have lost 38 pounds at WW since last April. I hope a lot doesn't fit anymore!

Man the Northwest area of MN is getting nailed with snow, some areas are suppose to get up to 12+ inches of snow. We were right on the edge and got some rain, sleet, and snow and tomarrow will be in the teens. ENOUGH ALREADY

> What is your favorite activity to welcome in spring?
I love photography, so I really enjoy taking pictures of flowers when they start blooming.
This year, my son is old enough to learn the joys of flying a kite... somthing I've not done in years, so it should be great fun for the both of us!
And I used to go to Gatlinburg in the spring with my sister... we've not been in a long time and I know she's edgy to get out, so maybe this year we'll get down there.

I'm with you, caryrae, we still have mounds of snow. Our fields are showing brown patches again, but there are massive piles of the stuff from all the plowing this winter. The idea of turning the ground over and planting things is out of the question for us, yet.
I have started some tomato plants inside though! Our growing season isn't all that long, I'm hoping to stretch tomato season a bit by putting in plants that are close.
As for my favorite part of spring? When I can leave all the doors and windows open all day. We hit 60 this weekend, I was able to open them for a short time. Yes, I'm a little impatient to be done with winter. =D

We were almost 80 yesterday, and for today, too. I am working in the office for a bit, taking the grooming table on the deck and grooming 9 Welsh Corgis while I have the chance. Little devils are shedding like woolly mammoths... Put all hanging baskets outside and watered well. Since I do www.flylady.net, I am doing a crisis cleaning 101 with the windows open, too. Can you tell I've had 3 cups of really great coffee already this morning?LOL! i do not care for DST, but will adjust. The extra daylight can be OK. But I prefer timing my sleep by the chickens...LOL!
