I had the same experience - ordered the black and got the silver. I replaced the silver part with the black piece from an old piercing unit, since the bottom part holds up perfectly well. I like having an extra on hand, as they don't last long enough despite gentle handling.

Thanks for the response! I didn't feel like opening the package just in case I could return it. I bought it as backup and hope I never needed. I don't want to be without my coffee.

Yes, they are interchangeable, I had the same basic question and was told that this was so.

I know another member asked about shipping charges for parts. Do you know if you were charged shipping on the piece and if so, how much?
