(sorry for posting the same stuff at Facebook and here...but i figure not everyone here is over there, and certainly not everyone over there is here....)
I find this Gevalia announcement both promising AND disturbing.
Promising that they felt the heat enough to finally actually tell us something, and that they are giving us a few new choices.
Disturbing in that this is only 3 new varieties, when a good 8-10 will be leaving...that the new ones are Gevalia, which isn't exactly a headline-grabbing name...and that it will be Summer before they are even available.
That delay may mean they think they still have enough Sbux product available to last a few months, at current purchase rates. But I expect fans will start stocking up now, so that may not work out. It may also mean that's the fastest they can roll it out, even though this outcome has been pretty certain for months.
As for Gevalia, I see some positive comments on here, but the lone offering I tried, the signature blend (i think that's it), is undrinkable. I cannot bring myself to try any others so far.
The Carte Noire Kenya and Mastro Lorenzo espresso are my favorite small cups, I do like the Sbux Caffe Verona, and the Nabob is a quite good avg size cup. The MH lattes and caps are surprisingly good as well, but there are going to be some gaping holes in the selection once Sbux is gone, and no BIG name to draw new folks in.
I only hope there are more, and bigger, announcements coming very, very soon.

Early this summer, Gevalia is launching three new "X-tra Bold" coffee selection T Discs for those who prefer a dark, bold coffee experience. 1) Dark Breakfast Blend 2) Dark House Blend 3) Dark Italian Roast.

I'm afraid your second idea is probably right dave. I hope they have a real announcement soon. I would liked to have known if there was a plan and what specifically are they looking at for new offerings.

Is it because they are working to finalize some things with the new brands/varieties?
OR....
Is it because they've wasted so much time in arbitration with Starbucks that they actually have NOTHING ready to roll out by next week??
We shall see....
