I have descaled two times. A bit of background, I descaled my first machine after about three months but that machine was replaced by Tassimo in April with a new machine. I started to get worried because I had the second machine since April and no descale light. But I did put a new water filter in and have only been using that water so maybe that made the difference. Last week the descale light went on by iteself. (I used Durgol both times a product I purchased at BB&B).

My question is how do you descale if the light isn't on with the Bosch machine. It seems to be a special cycle different from the cleaning disc cycle. I would descale more often but was relying on the machine to tell me when. Does anyone know how to run the descale process if the indicator light isn't on.

The light indicating my Bosch Tassimo needed descaling came on. I called customer service. I was told to order the descaler, but I could use the machine in the meantime. Just unplug it for 15 minutes and the light would go out. I couldn't find the descaler on the Tassimo Direct accessories list. Also, the light didn't go off after being unplugged.

I called customer service again and was told the first rep was wrong and I should not to use the machine and that I could order the descaler by phone but it would not show up on my order. They said once I used the descaler, the light would go off when machine was unplugged.

The order took twice as long as normal to arrive. It included their recommended descaler. I used it, unplugged the machine and the light is still on. I will use the descaler again, but this is very annoying and from now on I will use it regularly every three months.

If you have coffee delivered and meet the minimum for free shipping you can have the descaler added by phone. It was 6.99. The brand they sent is Dezcal by Urnex.

It could be your water... perhaps you have wonderful water! But you could call Customer Service to see if the techy-folks have any way to visually tell when the machine needs descaling. If they have a way you can look at a part of the machine and tell, and your light isn't coming on, but it looks like it needs to be descaled, then your machine would need repair.

My descaling light has never come on, either. I descale when I change the water filter.

I have had my machine for a year and the descaling light has never come on. And it's been used a lot. I probably should have just descaled it myself, which I will do now. But does anyone know why the light never came on. I was ignorant and just kept thinking it didn't need it, and then I googled it and turns out every 3 months is recommended.

Thanks in advance!

There's a few threads on descaling in the forums. This thread, if you read through it, members suggest some options if you can't get your hands on the Tassimo descaling product.

Basically, you don't want to use vinegar and you do want to use a decalcifying product.

I've seen coffee maker cleaners in my supermarket, but I'm nervous to use anything not specific for the machine, and my instruction booklet I believe refers us to the website and customer service for a descaler product *not sure*.

I'll escalate this upwards and see if we can get a solid answer. =)

If Tassimo isn't going to offer the descaling packets, they should suggest alternatives. I don't want to ruin my machine by using just anything.

The instruction book says not to use white vinegar in the Bosch machine, but a regular coffee descaling liquid should be fine. I've been able to find it at my Wal-Mart, but BB&B, or a similar retail outlet, should carry a descaling product. I use filtered water, plus the filter, but I still descale regularly.

I was wondering the same thing, I have really hard water and I know I'll have to descale it soon. I use only the filtered water from my fridge, but it still leaves a lot of minerals behind. Where do we get the descaler packets?

I"ve only had my Bosch since January, and have only run distilled water though it. But now the descaling light is on. When I went to try to order the descaler through the website, there wasn't any offered. What's going on?
